Feng Shui – Clutter Control in Your Home, Chalet or Office

It is often noted that cleanliness is next to godliness. So it can be said the less cluttered a person’s home or office is the more focus they have of their life, their work and family as well as occupational priorities. By cleaning and eliminating clutter from your areas your life as well as relationships will certainly improve. Clutter in your home or office is bad Feng Shui. Clean your clutter and free your mind up.

Feng Shui concepts and parameters are a most important part of the mix to consider when instituting your changes and follow through. After all plan to do it properly. Cleaning your home, condo or cottage of clutter and doing it improperly or not thoroughly can do more harm than good. Take the time to prepare.

First of all it can be said that spaces that completely block the flow of the vital energy “Chi” should be watched out and prevented. . Take the time to do it right/ For example full filing drawers may not only block your wireless internet in your home or office , they may also block the flow of new business that should come your way as a matter of course or even of new found friends and acquaintances. Full bookcases may appear to be good décor yet block the flow of new and additional information that can be incorporated into your mind, conceptual as well as business models

Secondly if you do involve storage units that are hung from the ceiling, these may these are not a good idea. Hanging units may appear trendy but are even dangerous as they work steadily to create oppressive energy that may well press downwards on whatever happens to be. You yourself , your family members or even pets may begin to harbor and feel feelings of anxiety, depression and even a to a point that you begin to sense that the world is closing in on you . Thus storage units hung above you may be a poor idea in the world and knowledge of Feng Shui.

Similarly shelves over a desk or on a wall beside you can have a similar oppressive effect not only resulting in poor concentration, anger and in the mildest forms headaches that simply will never seem to go away. You can expect more of the same if similar shelving is used nearby a bed or cot.

If one rule can be made – it is to store items where they are readily accessible yet out of immediate sight. You might well consider open pegboards and open shelving for storage yet they do little to avoid feelings and images of clutter. These types of storage are best relegated to the workroom, work shelf or garage. Another set of areas where these types of storage are fine is in the pantry.

If you do have a favorite display that you have accumulated over time and are proud of – say for example a set of trophies from tennis , bowling or golf or perhaps a full set of antique china dolls then that is fine. Work not to overwhelm. More can be less. You can have a permanent storage, even exhibit area with a portion of your collection. The rest can be placed in a closed area or drawers in “cold storage”. Rotate your collection that is on view, in a regular and ongoing process. This way neither your spaces will appear cluttered nor if anything your friends and guests can be continually reminded of your positive attributes in a new and ongoing regular fashion and manner – all without creating needless clutter.

Lastly aesthetics are always a major part of the mix and process in Feng Shui. Keeping ear rings and small jewellery in an ice cube tray may be functional but it leaves a downright poor impression overall. A small plastic storage box – easily found economically at dollar stores will do the trick – with a much better aesthetic impression overall.

It can be said that some people think that clutter is a good thing. It shows action and the material accumulations of a person over their lifetime. To some it is even reassuring. Yet to keep track of all these items in a person’s mind takes a fair amount of energy – energy that is wasted and could be better applied elsewhere. The hallmark of many successful people is an attention to neatness. Little clutter is the order of the day.

If they need something they can easily find it without much effort at all. These successful people have a great amount of energy left over which they channel into effective, productive and profitable pursuits.
