The disorder is cool
In my personal universe, chaos and the salary for a battle that is often hotly disputed between the notes scribbled clippings and other pieces of information scattered around my workspace. So I can sympathies with Karen Jackson, Texas, school teacher done quickly grabbed the first in a competition to find America disordered table.
The contest was sponsored by Little, Brown and Company as part of its promotion of a new book, A Perfect Mess: The Hidden Benefits of Disorder – How Crammed Closets, Cluttered Offices, and On-the-Fly planning the world a better place, by Eric Abrahamson and David Freedman. The authors argue that cleanliness has a wide variety of negative consequences and can actually make workers less efficient.
I'm not proud of the congestion that builds up next to my pens and pencils. I know it would be more efficient to maintain a larger volume of data stored electronically. However, I often unexpected ideas and write in the nearest waste immediately above or spam, and I want to have physical contact with my notes whenever I have around sort them.
I am in awe of people who have adopted the use of mobile phones Black Berry, and wireless networks. However, cyberculture environment is a high speed. He is proud of the speed and efficiency. I grew up in a household that emphasized in "haste makes waste "and" slowly but surely. "Instant Answers to important questions are not encouraged. More frequent were the parents sentence: "Think about it."
"Think" is, of course, a euphemism for "I did not give an answer regret it later. "In other words, you are stagnant, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
The stall is one the great traditions of all bureaucratic organizations.
After working as a mid-level employee, I did, and do not regret not.
My habits on paper can Look disorder and outdated, but all fans of the paperless office has to take into account a fact: if the sun ejects Never a plasma ball and blowing on this planet in 1859, the lines of our electricity networks, microwave towers and fiber optics could be transformed into fried spaghetti.
Fortunately, no mass electrons can disrupt the paper trails in my office. Give me just a place to sit, a stack of Post-it, and an office large enough, and I am organizing the Earth.
