Why when I face west, the green arrow on my compass reads east?

I am learning Feng Shui and I live in Philadelphia, I know the Delaware river is east of my home. North and south reads correctly however when I stand in my doorway with the river behind me I got a reading of 70 degrees from my compass. Does that indicate I am facing east?

In addition to the above correct answers, I’d like to add that you should be standing away from ferrous objects when using a compass. Things such as door hinges, belt buckles, cars, metal siding etc are magnetic and can alter the earth’s magnetic field to cause a compass to point somewhere beside the magnetic north pole.
